The first week of February is the week when children all over Nicaragua put on their new uniforms to meet their classmates and teachers for the first time. Nicaragua follows a February through November school schedule which historically has allowed families to work seasonally during the months when coffee is ready to pick (usually December and January).
Lord willing, by this time next year, the Oasis of Grace Christian Academy will be initiating its inaugural year and welcoming its first group of 80 children! We are so excited for all the lives (children, families, employees) that will be blessed by this school. Pedro Lopez (director) and his staff are expecting four grades (1-4) in the first year with 20 per grade. They are also expecting to add five new positions to help run the new facility, which will bless five more families with a respectable monthly salary.
We are thankful to share that the property for the school has not only been purchased, but the Oasis construction crew broke ground just last week. Stay tuned for more information about the ground-breaking ceremony next month! Please pray for God’s guidance and provision to bless this important phase of the transition process.
When kids are not in school, the ministry still serves lunches, teaches Gospel-centered Bible classes, and nurtures Christ-centered relationships with children and their families. We are so thankful for the Oasis’ staff continued dedication!
